Thanks for participating in Boss Babes Magazine, Emily! You’re a business owner. Tell me about your business and what inspired you to start this endeavor?

Ilaria Spa Therapies is in the health and beauty industry servicing clients who want massage therapy, nail care, lash extensions, facials, and body waxing. Throughout the last 2 1/2 years, I’ve helped women in these areas, as well as hormone replacement therapy, cosmetic injectables, and pelvic floor therapy, to build their business and create a platform for their own health and beauty practices.

My drive for creating this concept came from a desire to provide a special place for entrepreneurial women to learn to start their own businesses. Starting your own business can be very intimidating and very costly. I wanted to provide a location in a brick-and-mortar environment so that women could more easily realize their dreams and create their own wealth.

I find it inspirational that your business exists to help other women entrepreneurs. What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned as an entrepreneur?

I learned that things don’t always go to plan. No matter how many times you can plan and forecast the bumps in the road, the bumps will be even more dense and higher than you ever imagined. You just need to learn from what went wrong and decide to overcome it every single time.

In addition to owning Ilaria Spa Therapies, you’re also a massage therapist. What have you learned about people as a result of working in this industry?

I started my own massage practice back in 2013 and began to build my clientele by utilizing the Groupon platform. I can look in my database to this day and see over 350 clients that are still with me and have still supported my endeavors for the last 10 years. What I’ve learned is that if you treat people right, they can be very loyal, and they want you to succeed just as much as you want yourself to. I have so many cheerleaders in my corner. It just blows me away!

When this chapter of your business is over, what is the legacy that you hope to leave behind?

I want people to know that I never gave up, no matter how many times my attempts failed. Failure is what creates success. I want my children to see that I never gave up no matter how hard everything seemed to be.

Successful entrepreneurs have inspirational words that inspire them. Do you have a quote you’d like to share?

“That ship has not yet sailed, especially since I haven’t even launched it yet.”
