Where were you in your life when you decided to take the leap into your business?

Starting an HVAC business was my husband Chris’s dream. At the time, I was working for a large corporate company that left me feeling drained and unfulfilled. When Chris came to me with the idea of starting our own company, I didn’t hesitate. I believed in him, I believed in us, and I knew together we could build something special.

We started The Weather Changers from our garage with a teenager, a newborn, and a lot of determination. We were the ultimate partners, each bringing different strengths to the table. What began as a dream has grown into a thriving business built on trust, hard work, and a shared commitment to serving our team, customers, and community.

How do you find strength during moments of doubt, burnout, or adversity?

I remind myself why I started. Building a business is never easy, and there have been plenty of moments filled with doubt, exhaustion, and challenges. During those times, I look inward and focus on my family and the incredible team we’ve built.

I also take a step back and look at how far we’ve come. From starting in our garage to serving thousands of homeowners and creating opportunities for others, those reminders help put the hard days into perspective. Adversity is part of the journey, but I’ve learned that growth often comes from the moments that test you the most. Every challenge has made me a stronger leader, business owner, and person.

If you could go back to the beginning, what’s something you would do differently?

If I could go back to the beginning, I would trust myself more and listen to my gut sooner. There were times when I second-guessed decisions or waited longer than I should have because I wasn’t completely sure of the next step. Looking back, my instincts were usually right.

I also would have built our team faster and not been afraid to take some of the bigger leaps we eventually took. Growth often requires stepping outside of your comfort zone, and some of our best decisions came from taking calculated risks.

I would also spend more time researching vendors and partners. One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that if something sounds too good to be true, it usually is. Experience has taught me the value of doing your homework, asking tough questions, and choosing partners who align with your values and long-term goals.

Is there a quote or mantra that speaks to your soul and fuels your motivation?

One quote that has always resonated with me is, “Everything you’ve ever wanted is on the other side of fear.” As a business owner, wife, mother, and leader, I’ve learned that growth rarely happens inside your comfort zone. Some of the biggest opportunities in my life came from taking a chance before I felt completely ready. Starting a business, growing a team, stepping into leadership roles, and advocating for our industry all required me to push through uncertainty and trust myself.

My personal mantra is simple: trust your gut and keep moving forward. Not every decision will be perfect, but I’ve learned that progress comes from taking action, learning from mistakes, and staying focused on the bigger purpose behind what you’re building.

How do you start your day in a way that sets the tone for success?

Music is a big part of how I start my day. I have a morning playlist full of upbeat, high-energy, sing-your-heart-out songs that I blast on my drive to the office. It pumps me up, lifts my mood, and helps me start the day on a positive note.

As a business owner and operator, every day brings new challenges and opportunities, so I believe it’s important to start with the right energy. Those few minutes in the car give me time to get motivated, think about my goals, and mentally prepare for the day ahead. By the time I walk through the office doors, I’m energized, focused, and ready to lead my team, serve our customers, and tackle whatever comes my way.

How do you hope your work and story will inspire the next generation of women and girls?

I hope my story shows women and girls that they don’t have to fit into a certain mold to be successful. You don’t have to have all the answers, come from the perfect background, or follow a traditional path. You have to be willing to take the first step and keep going, even when it’s hard.

As a woman in a predominantly male industry, I’ve learned that confidence is built through action, not by waiting until you feel ready. I want the next generation to know that their voice matters, their ideas matter, and they belong in any room they choose to walk into.

If my journey inspires even one woman or girl to believe in herself, take a chance on her dreams, or pursue a career she never thought was possible, then that’s a legacy I’m incredibly proud of. My goal isn’t just to build a successful business — it’s to help open doors and create opportunities for others to succeed, too.
