What’s your favorite thing about what you do?

What I love most about my profession is the opportunity to engage with people. I love making my clients feel good, and I especially enjoy empowering them to feel good about themselves. It’s very gratifying to help my clients disconnect from their stress even for just an hour.

What is your favorite trait about yourself?

I think the trait that helps me the most in my profession is being able to talk to anyone. The back and forth conversation also makes me a great listener which makes it easier to connect with my clients. I appreciate these skills because they help me understand what my clients need in the moment.

Are there any myths you’d like to bust about your profession?

If I could have a magic wand and help everyone with just one thing, that would be that it’s NOT a myth that you need to wear SPF every day, even when not in the sun. Wearing SPF would help so many suppress the aging process and damage to the skin including skin cancer. Seriously, wear sunscreen every day!

What have you learned about leadership that doesn’t get taught in schools?

I didn’t learn this in school, or maybe I just didn’t appreciate it fully then. What I’ve learned that is essential to be successful in business is confidence in yourself and what you are selling- whether it’s products or facts. Confidence comes from knowledge. Doing the work to become an expert really matters. The combination of knowledge and confidence leads to trust with my clients.

What’s your favorite aspirational quote?

“You are never too old to set another goal or to dream a new dream” – C.S. Lewis

June Davis is the owner and lead aesthetician at The byü-tē Studio, a skincare, microblading, and lash salon in Broomfield, Colorado.
