Portrait photographer Rachel Sorbet recently celebrated the completion of her studio relocation and expansion with a grand opening and ribbon-cutting celebration on June 24, 2023. The new location in Westminster marks an exciting milestone for Rachel Sorbet Portraiture.
Rachel Sorbet Portraiture is a personal branding and portrait photography studio founded by its namesake in 2018. With a background in marketing and visual design, Sorbet brings a unique perspective to her clients, many of whom lack an in-house marketing team. "Serving small business is my forte, and I'm a serial entrepreneur. I deeply understand the needs of service-based businesses to brand their owners. When it's a small or micro business we're talking about, you are the face of your brand, and it's critical to put the right image out there," said Sorbet.
Sorbet feels a deep connection to her new retail location in Westminster. Shortly before opening her studio, she relocated to the city and now enjoys living and working within its boundaries. "When I toured this commercial space in 2022, it was a blank canvas - with its bare floors and undivided space - it felt like I could build a studio where I could create my best work and expand my ability to service more clients within the community," Sorbet explained.
Rachel Sorbet Portraiture is located in 1,600 square feet of class AA retail space within the ALTO building, a mixed-use living complex in an economic opportunity zone. The purpose of the opportunity zone program, enacted in 2017, is to encourage private capital investment in low-income communities. "The grants offered within the Westminster Station TOD Opportunity Zone allowed me to build the studio of my dreams while affecting positive change for the community," said Sorbet.
Sorbet is passionate about business and supporting female entrepreneurship, no matter the organization's size. In 2021, she ran a photography campaign featuring portraits of 50 women in business. In 2023, it expanded into an annual magazine, BossBabesMagazine.com, featuring interviews with each participant.
Teaming up with Studio Shop Architects for design expertise, Sorbet has created a state-of-the-art portrait studio with an integrated hair and makeup space for her cosmetologists to beautify clients and photography sets for strobe and natural light. Construction was handled by Interworks LLC, which brought the studio concept to life. Sorbet was represented by Kinsey & Company Commercial Real Estate.
