You're a therapist. What do you do for your patients?
I take patients on a journey of healing from where they are to where they want to be. Our journey includes EMDR and other therapeutic tools to achieve patient goals. I design individualized self-improvement programs tailored to the specific desired outcome of each patient. Providing therapy that works by guiding a shift in thoughts and focusing in on the way one feels, which directs the way they act. Brain therapy is a way to take back the power of control and not allow past experiences, internal thoughts, or external happenings to over-influence emotions and actions in the present.
What's your superpower?
I am the Avdocator. My superpower is to be the advocate for optimal mental health and healing. Connections are cultivated with others on a truly meaningful level and minds are motivated using intelligence and empathy to create ah-ha moments in therapy.
What's your favorite thing about what you do?
My favorite thing about what I do is witnessing the realization of goals achieved by my patient’s deep dive into self-exploration and surfacing with an investigation that opens their heart and mind to a path of growth.
What advice would you give to yourself when you were a young working mother?
Success isn't built on success... mistakes are okay. Trust in your ability to figure things out and enjoy the journey.

Do you have any exciting ambitions for the future?
I have so many ambitions for the future! My next big plan is to open a foundation that focuses on life after loss. A place for healing and trauma recovery, helping people process grief and move through symptoms while resolving complex issues of loss. Losing a loved one can be the most distressing experience faced in life. Complicated grief can be debilitating with painful emotions that make resuming life feel impossible. Some loss can even lead to a bereavement disorder. Loss is different for everyone. The foundation will provide a safe place to support and help process grief and loss. This foundation will serve in remembrance of my daughter, Layla Monk (#LiveforLayla).
Rose Monk is a brain therapist at Graymatter Clinic, serving all of Colorado with therapy that inspires change and improves the quality of life through self-awareness and self-exploration. Her area of expertise is trauma recovery, grief and loss, anger management, traumatic brain injury, concussion syndrome, and symptoms of ADHD, anxiety, depression.
