OWNER, LIFESTYLE MARKETING
What inspired you to start your business?
My passion to help businesses grow is what prompted me to start my business in 2020. No time like Covid to really put yourself out there, right? I entered the sales and marketing arena when I was 20. I started in radio, moved to television, and ended up as a media buyer over the course of many years. Through all of my experiences and years of learning about different businesses ' needs and wants there is one thing every business, no matter the business, has in common.... ROI and wanting their business to grow. This is what I LOVE and I LOVE to help businesses get there. To see and watch a business grow is amazing and why I do what I do.
What led you to your current profession?
When I was young I always loved to see billboards on the freeway in Orange County, CA where I grew up. That probably sounds weird I'm sure, but I loved to see them switched out and loved to see the new messages. It intrigued me! My major in college was broadcast journalism and when I started in radio sales out of school I enjoyed being able to help businesses bring in new clients and help build their brand. It inspired me and drove me to continue in that industry.
What advice would you give to yourself when you were a young working mother?
This too shall pass and keep moving and doing! Don't sweat the small stuff and remember... learn from EVERYTHING. It will make you stronger and who you will become when you are older. Every wrinkle will have a story!
What gets you up in the morning?
My family and what the days have in store. My husband and girls make me laugh every day and the excitement and creativity of what work has in store keeps me going.
What's been the best career advice you've ever received?
I grew up in a very strong Dutch household. Anyone that is Dutch will know what I'm talking about. My dad played professional baseball for 22 years and was a television broadcaster for the Minnesota Twins for another 25 years thereafter. He's now in the Baseball Hall of Fame. My mom was very strong and made sure growing up that we stayed grounded and taught my brothers and I to use my dad as a role model... he worked really hard to get where he got! She made sure we knew that if you work hard in life, treat people with respect, look people in the eyes and to have manners, it will take you far. This has been my motto throughout life. You treat people the way you want to be treated and build a personal connection and this will take you far. This is what has helped me through my career building some amazing connections and this is advice I will continue to share with my daughters.
What's your superpower?
Superpower is a big word, but I would say multi-tasking for sure. I am married with two awesome and active girls and have a growing business that's thriving. I am on time frames all day... BUT I LOVE IT and wouldn't have it any other way.
And finally, I like to end every interview by having my client share her favorite work-related quote. What is yours?
"People don't buy what you do, they buy why you do it." - Simon Sinek
