Omega Functional Health is about re-imagining medicine. Our clinic helps people with chronic conditions reclaim their lives through non-invasive, non-pharmaceutical approaches. As a husband-wife team, we specialize in taking a neurological and nutritional approach to address neuropathy, chronic joint & body pain, cognitive decline, neurodevelopmental disorders, anxiety & depression, sleep disorders, headaches & migraines.
Omega symbolizes the culmination of a journey toward optimal health and well-being. It calls for each of us to embrace a lifestyle rich in nutrients, balance, and resilience. Just like it symbolizes the finality of the Greek alphabet, may we each reach the “Omega” of our health journey where vitality and fulfillment converge.
What role has mindset played in your entrepreneurial journey?
About 80% of my triumphs and challenges can be traced back to my mindset. Through both victories and struggles, I've learned to recognize deeply ingrained patterns and stay open to opportunities. Growing up as a first-generation Asian American, I faced various cultural and social adversities. Balancing a desire to assimilate into American culture while cherishing my identity as a Chinese woman, I grappled with preserving customs and values from my heritage. Navigating the conflicting values often affected my self-perception.
Overcoming patterns of doubt, guilt, and shame has been crucial, as these emotions can be paralyzing obstacles. My successful strategies revolve around cultivating awareness and taking personal responsibility, setting aside concerns about others' perceptions. I'm committed to consistency, addressing one small task each day, building momentum, and fortifying my resilience. Seeking guidance from coaches aligned with my goals, especially in areas where I felt weaker, has proven instrumental. The synergy of consistent effort and targeted coaching played a pivotal role in overcoming challenges, enhancing my skills, and propelling our business to new heights.
What has been the most important lesson you've learned as an entrepreneur?
The most profound lesson I've embraced as an entrepreneur is anchored in the realms of communication and personal responsibility. Communication, to me, is not just about conveying ideas but weaving a tapestry of connection, understanding, and collaboration. It involves not only expressing myself but also actively listening to others, fostering an environment where every voice is valued. Simultaneously, taking responsibility for oneself and setting clear expectations for others forms the cornerstone of success.
In the entrepreneurial journey, personal accountability is not just an individual commitment; it's a collective agreement that propels the entire team forward. By intertwining effective communication and a shared sense of responsibility, I've found a powerful formula that not only navigates the challenges of entrepreneurship but also nurtures a harmonious and thriving business environment.
How do you measure success and how has that changed over time?
When my husband Sam and I first opened up our chiropractic clinic in a 12' x 12' room in a yoga studio, our son was just one month old. New parents, new practitioners, new entrepreneurs, success to us only meant focusing on financial gains. However, we quickly learned that could also keep us in survival mode leaving us feeling depleted, dissatisfied, and disconnected---within ourselves and towards each other. To protect our mindset and shift our state from survival to thriving, Sam and I began with the simple practice of sharing gratitude daily.
Over time, our definition of success evolved and expanded. Today, there are several key facets for my partner and me. One is success is with family. It is gauged by the strength of relationships and the quality time shared, and the ability to be present and communicate effectively. Another measure of success is time; the ability to create "spaciousness" in time that is reserved for purposeful moments. Next, health is an integral measure, nurturing both mind and body. And finally, impact is another measure of success. Being a functional health clinic, we focus on helping people reclaim their lives from chronic conditions. From our years of experience, every milestone matters. To be able to celebrate the positive changes our patients experience is extremely rewarding. Every facet of success is interwoven and helps us create a foundation for well-being.
What are some of the key competitive advantages that you offer? And why do your patients choose you over another clinic?
Omega Functional Health is a patient-oriented, results-driven clinic in which every step we take in the office is focused on helping people achieve positive, long-lasting change. It’s our mission to help people reclaim control of their chronic conditions without resorting to traditional medical approaches. This involves:
1) Caring team bringing hope & healing.
2) Complete approach promoting ease of recovery and putting the person in control.
3) Measurable goals to move a person towards vitality.
4) Lasting results contribute to longevity.
What is the legacy that you hope to leave behind?
At the culmination of my career, I aspire to leave behind a legacy defined by the profound impact of our care, empowering others to make meaningful contributions in various aspects of their lives.
I envision a legacy where my son witnesses resilience in action, observing his parents transform dreams into reality. I want him to internalize the belief that if we can manifest our aspirations, then the possibilities for his achievements are boundless. Through this legacy, I aim to inspire a ripple effect of positive influence, fostering resilience, and nurturing the potential for impactful change in both individuals and the broader community.
