Thanks for participating in the Boss Babes campaign, Daryl Lynn! What inspired you to pursue this career path?
I had taught school before I had children and went back as a substitute teacher when my youngest child went to middle school. By that time, things had changed so much that I didn't like teaching anymore. I knew I was a people person and had always enjoyed seeing homes so I got my real estate license and planned to do it part time. Very soon I knew I had found a career that I loved and was good at. In less than three months I began selling homes full time. It was also very good for my children as they started helping more at home.
Do you have a favorite success/career quote that resonates with you?
"Nobody cares how much you know until they know how much you care."
What has been the most important lesson you've learned being in sales?
The harder you work, the luckier you get!
You’ve had a remarkable real estate career spanning 30+ years. Do you have any key achievements that you're particularly proud of?
I was the top producing agent on the Hwy 285 corridor for many years and served on the Ethics Committee for four years. This committee handled complaints from Realtors about other Realtors, and the experience made me a better Realtor. I learned that there are almost always two sides to every story. I also learned that, although rare, unethical agents do exist. Realtors must adhere to a strict code of ethics when working with their clients and fellow real estate professionals, and I learned the importance of the Realtor designation both for myself and my colleagues.
At the end of your career, what is the legacy that you hope to leave behind?
I hope to leave behind very satisfied clients, many who have become friends. This business and life in general are about relationships of trust.
Why do you do what you do?
I do what I do because I truly enjoy it. It makes me happy when my clients find the right home to purchase or sell their home feeling satisfied with the outcome and experience.
