STARTUP CEO
You are the founder and CEO of a wardrobe service in Denver, Clothes Concierge. What led you to start this business?
It started off as a side hustle e-commerce store.
What's your favorite thing about what you do?
The impact it makes both on the environment and in the lives of those it serves.
What have been your biggest obstacles in business and what helped you overcome those obstacles?
Wearing all the hats all the time was a struggle for me and learning to delegate was critical to my sanity. The job may not get done how I'd do it, but that's ok. When you're not accepting help, burnout is inevitable when you're burning the candle at both ends. Surround yourself with good people and let go of the outcome.
What is one piece of advice you'd give your pre-career 20 something self?
Start building your network now, surrounding yourself with strong people is critical in life. Also, work on your mindset!
If you have a bucket list, what's your favorite thing you've checked off?
Taking my kids to Legoland, which seems like no big deal, but it was a highlight in our lives and I loved creating those memories together.
Do you have a favorite quote?
"Do what you can with what you have, where you are."
When in your life have you felt most confident and why?
When I shaved my head. Because I had been reliant on my looks for too long and after building character I had no attachments to superficial things. I felt good seeing the people who came into my life who genuinely liked me for me and not just for looks.
What is your favorite trait about yourself?
I'm brutally honest, I can't lie!
Do you have any exciting ambitions for the future? I have four other business ideas that I will plan to pursue in the coming years. I have so many things I want to bring to the world and add value.
What lessons did you learn from the challenges created from the pandemic?
How to make a pivot when necessary to keep things going. Sometimes it's easy to get stuck in a rut of doing things the same way but that doesn't always necessarily work.
What's been the best career advice you've ever received?
To stay laser focused on just one thing at a time.
