A Mother's Day Black & White Portrait Experience

In black and white, emotion and connection take center stage.

From Our Mother's Day Clients

One thoughtfully chosen outfit. Two distinct looks.

For a cohesive, elevated look, all participants will be photographed in one coordinated outfit—either all white/light or all black/dark. Dressing in a single color ensures that no one person feels visually disconnected, allowing the focus to stay where it belongs: on your connection.

We will photograph you on two backdrops: white and black. When styled in white on a white backdrop, the result is soft, light, and luminous—an airy, timeless aesthetic that feels effortless and modern. The same outfit photographed on our black backdrop creates a striking shift in mood, producing dramatic high-contrast images.

Frequently Asked Questions

No. This is a Mother’s Day experience designed to honor the mother, child, or grandparent relationship. We love our dads, but given the format of these back-to-back mini sessions, there just isn’t time for everyone to be included. Please book a separate session for your full family photoshoot.

Yes! We love photographing three generations. Grandmas adore having pictures of themselves with their grandkids.

Small groups work best. The more people are included, the longer it takes to get a great portrait where everyone looks fantastic. Groups of four or fewer work best.

To create timeless, emotion-forward black and white portraits, wardrobe simplicity is key. Everyone in the group will be photographed in one outfit only, so please arrive fully dressed and ready for your session.

Choose ONE color for everyone:
🤍 All White or 🖤 All Black
Wearing the same color creates a beautifully cohesive look and allows the focus to stay on connection and expression.

What Photographs Best
Clean lines and close-to-the-body silhouettes photograph most beautifully in black and white. Think simple, elevated, and unfussy.

Perfect go-to pieces include:
– Form-fitting T-shirts
– Button-up shirts
– Turtlenecks
– Tank tops or tube tops
– Body-contouring dresses
– Jeans or simple trousers

Keep It Timeless
– Avoid logos, graphics, and patterns
– Skip bulky layers
– Choose fabrics that drape smoothly and feel comfortable to move in
– Skip the watch (when we’re with family, we don’t mind the time)
– Show some skin like your wrists, arms, neckline, or shoulders (it adds a sense of intimacy)

When everyone is dressed simply and intentionally, nothing distracts from what matters most—the way you connect with one another.

We can accommodate additional makeup services in three sessions only—the final session of the day on May 8, 9, and 10. Once those spots are filled, no other sessions in the mini marathon will be able to add a third or fourth makeover. Call Rachel directly to request this.

Arrive with your hair styled and ready to go.

Your face needs to be clean and free of any makeup, but please apply your regular face moisturizer. The makeup artist will provide everything needed for your makeup transformation, including natural strip lashes.

Plan to be at the studio for two hours. One hour for makeup for up to two women, 30 minutes for your photoshoot, and 30 minutes to select and purchase your favorite portraits. Please bring any snacks or entertainment your little ones will need during this time.

A note about timing. Each day of this marathon, we are photographing 5 appointments back-to-back. If you arrive early, please wait in your car until your appointment time. Everyone should arrive already dressed with their hair styled.

We collect the $350 session fee up front to hold your spot. This covers makeup for up to two women and your photoshoot.

Portraits are sold separately from the session and cost $295 per digital image. Printed formats for the tabletop and wall are also available.

Immediately after the photoshoot, we review the images together, and you’ll pick out which images you love and want to keep. This is a fun experience where you get to see everything that was photographed, even the outtakes!

Immediately after the photoshoot we cull through the images together to pull out the best of the best. We will have 30 minutes to make your final image selections. We send the selected images to the retoucher where she will make everyone sparkle by smoothing wrinkles, taming flyaways, and gently pushing in any extra bulges. The finished digital portraits are ready in 10 days.
